Working in cooperation with the Padre Island Rotary Club and the San Miguel Rotary Club, Casa Tortuga provided a pontoon boat for the schoolchildren of the Mexican village of Don Juan. The boat will ferry them across La Presa Reservoir, to San Miguel de Allende, where they attend school.
By working closely with local, city and state government officials, the Padre Island Rotary with support from Casa Tortuga, worked with Mexican authorities to make arrangements for the boat's delivery to San Miguel de Allende's Rotary chapter. Once delivered, the boat will be readied for its maiden voyage across the reservoir, making the ride across the river a safe and efficient commute for these schoolchildren. The success of this Rotary cross-border effort, along with Casa Tortuga's assistance, has fueled all parties involved to work together and will be the first phase of a broader effort to collaborate in the future.
